Twas Halloween Night at MacBeth’s Place

We heard there was a great turnout for the Halloween party over at Virtual MacBeth. We got word of this great machinima by HVX Silverstar showing the dancing on the heath: And project lead Anya Ixchel (aka Angela Thomas) reports that they have done 20 tours over the last two weeks, averaging 2000 visits per day and more than double that on weekends. An Invitation to Visit University of the Pacific

One of our NMC Virtual Worlds projects this year was construction of the virtual campus for the University of the Pacific which included a mixture of replication of campus structures, such as Burns Tower, and creation of new spaces which only exist on the virtual campus. Henry Jenkins Second Life Visit

Today was a multi location event where Henry Jenkins was visiting the Teen Grid for the Global Kids A World Fit For Children Festival. We had Henry and Barry Joseph on a teleconference line, with the audio going into my laptop and streaming back out to second life via our streaming server. Today at 11:00 AM was the headline event (well, actually, they all were!), but having Howard Rheingold in world for a keynote is definitely a high water mark for our Impact of Digital Media Symposium... 12 days of presentations, art, music, discussion, and interaction. MacArthur Foundation Press Conference Webcast to NMC Campus

This morning, the MacArthur Foundation held a press conference in New York City to announce their $50 million investments to support programs in digital media-- see Building the Field of Digital Media and Learning as well as the press release.
