Gallery of In World Event Posters
published 29.Jul.09 by Alan Levine
Since the April 2006 launch of the NMC Campus in Second Life, we have hosted a wide range of virtual events, art shows, performances, conferences, etc. We have just compiled a collect of posters and photos of our past events as a web-based gallery at http://virtualworlds.nmc.org/events.
Each time you reload this web page, the order of the poster icons is shuffled. You can click any one to explore in more details, such as the poster for the launch of Virtual Macbeth (one of our NMC Virtual Worlds case studies).

The larger image is displayed superimposed on the same web page. If you click the image it will disappear, returning you to the gallery, but you can also exlore them in sequence using the arrow buttons below the bottom of the image. If there is a URL associated with a poster, it will appear in the caption, and you can click it to launch the link in a new web browser window/tab.
Another stunning way to view the collection is using the CoolIris view (this requires installation of the browser add on- works in all major web browsers) where the entire gallery is displayed as a virtual wall:

You can use your mouse or arrow keys to explore the “wall” and clicking any of the icons again presents a larger view:

If there is a web site associated with a poster, it appears in the caption below the poster title, and you can jump to the web site using the web link button in the far right corner.
We are still hosting events on NMC Campus, so you can expect the collection to grow.

Hi Alan,
Thanks for mentioning us! A virtual art show sounds like a very cool idea, and would certainly work well with Cooliris. Also, I saw your blog post about a Cooliris bug the other day on CogDogBlog and forwarded the problem to our team. They’re working on it as we speak. Err, type.
Well, I just wanted to chime in and say thank you for spreading the word about Cooliris. If you have any more feedback please let us know (feedback@cooliris.com) and check out our blog (http://blog.cooliris.com/) for the latest news!
Best,
Mark
